Read Me or Rue It, a devotion to the Holy Souls

When I was young and still in school (can’t recall if elementary or High School), my mom gave me a pamplhlet entitled “Read me or Rue it”.  It is about Purgatory and how we can help the holy souls through prayers and offering masses for them.  It also tells us how the holy souls will repay us over and over for remembering them.

I was amazed and since then like mom, I had been praying for the holy souls in purgatory daily.  I do not know where that pamphlet went but some years back I was able to buy a similar one and re read everything.

Fortunately I found an online version which I want to share with my friends and readers. Check out the site of the Holy Crusade where you can read the whole pamphlet written by Fr. Paul Sullivan.

About early last year, I saw photos of Celia in France, a friend in the travel industry. I was not familiar with a certain city called  Montligeone they visited and asked her about it.  She mentioned that her sister is a devotee of the Holy Souls in Purgatory and is behind the organization of the Prayer Warriors of the Holy Souls.  According to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Montligeone website:

The Shrine of Our Lady of Montligeon is a focal point of the Catholic church where people can gather together in a great movement of prayer and solidarity with departed souls.

That is another destination I would love to visit if given the chance.  I still remember what Celia told me then. Nothing is by chance, there is always a reason for a discovery, an experience, good or bad.  I believe that I have a mission, to spread this devotion, using this new medium.

And finally, lets all pray together while watching this video of the Prayer  given by Jesus to  St. Gertrude said  to release a thousand souls in purgatory:

Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus,
in union with the Masses said throughout the world today,
for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory,
for sinners everywhere,
for sinners in the universal church,
for those in my own home and within my own family. Amen.
